Yo Adrian!: A Comedy Spectacular

August 13, 2012 by Jack in Latest News, Things To Do with 0 Comments

You’ve probably heard of Wil Anderson, Carl Barron and Dave Hughes. Judith Lucy and Frank Woodley are more or less household names in Australia. But Adrian Cherubin is on Australian comedy superstar you’ve probably never heard of. The long standing technical director of the beloved Melbourne International Comedy Festival, he led the production team for 20 years, and sadly suffered a stroke during the 2012 festival. Some of Australia’s funniest are descending upon the Regent Theatre in September to put on Yo Adrian!, a benefit gig to raise funds for Cherubin’s ongoing care and rehabilitation.

Joining Anderson, Barron, Hughes, Lucy and Woodley will be Kitty Flanagan, Greg Fleet, Tom Gleeson, Jeff Green, Justin Hamilton, Colin Lane, Judith Lucy, Brian Nankervis, Charlie Pickering and Dave Thornton, with more big names to be announced.  Comedy Festival General Manager Virginia Lovett said: “Adrian is one of the industry’s outstanding professionals.  His reputation has been a touchstone for the Festival over the past 20 years. It has been extraordinary the offers of help we have had from the industry both nationally and internationally.”

This gala fundraiser is also a great opportunity to spotlight the work of the Alfred Hospital and their focus, through the annual Fathers’ Day Appeal, on men’s health issues.

Yo Adrian! is at the Regent Theatre, Melbourne on Wednesday 26th September. Tickets start at $50, and you can book (or donate) at www.comedyfestival.com.au
