Splendour in the Grass Heads Home

February 10, 2012 by Soph Goulopoulos in Festivals with 0 Comments

They say the grass is always greener…apparently the organisers of Splendour in the Grass got it right the first time.

The three-day-long epic music and arts festival will return this year to its original site at Belongil Fields (where is belongis) in Byron Bay after two years in Woodfordia, north of Brisbane.

And the prodigal son returns

Splendour is renowned for its jaw-dropping, gasp-inducing combination of international and local acts, and runs from the 27th to the 29th of July 2012.

Organisers intended to have North Byron Parklands host the festival, however the application has not yet been determined.
“We are excited at the prospect of returning to the birthplace of Splendour,” says Splendour co-producer Jessica Ducrou.

“Taking the event back to Byron Bay allows us to give our audience the true Splendour experience, a quality music and arts festival combined with that distinctive Byron culture.”

Byron Shire Mayor Jan Barham is also pleased to see the festival return to Byron Bay for 2012.

“Splendour’s home is Byron Bay and there is defined benefit that the festival delivers to the area, especially in winter, so it is a welcome return,” says Mayor Barham.

Previous acts have included Kanye West, Little Birdy, Mumford and Sons, Manchester Orchestra and Bloc Party.

This festival is a big. fucking. deal
Stay tuned for line-up announcements in the coming months. We’re so excited we just wee’d a little…
