Jeff Kendrick from DevilDriver

April 20, 2012 by E. Adamcewicz in Artists, Latest News with 0 Comments

Vulture rocker and writer Ellen Adamcewicz recently caught up with Devildriver member Jeff Kendrick for quickie…We figure that his mouth was busy doing other things, because the bloke certainly didn’t want to give too much away!

What is involved in your preshow routine?

My pre-show routine involves getting about an hour of practice time before I hit the stage. It always helps to play a guitar and get warmed up. Sometimes we will play songs or parts of songs together before the show, backstage.

What motivates you after all these years to continue touring and making music?

After all these years, I still love making music and love being in a band. That won’t change anytime soon.

What are your preferred makes and models of guitars?

I prefer my ESP JK-1 signature series model eclipse.

How much longer do you see yourselves making music as part of DevilDriver?

As Long as fans will have us.

How do you take many other young bands mimicking your style and sound?

Imitation is part of art. Glad to continue to play a role in what many before me have done.

What would you say the downside is to touring internationally? Is there one?

Lots of travel.

Is DevilDriver what you always aspired to musically? If you could do anything differently what would it be?

I love Devildriver and am happy for all I have achieved. I am working on becoming a better producer and engineer currently.

How do you plan on topping Beast?

We just write and do why we do. It I better to not try and think about it so much.

When do you plan on working on a new album? How will it differ from your last five studio albums?

We are currently writing now. I am sure we will are better songs. That is why we always strive to do.

What is your routine like when recording? How do you work through your ideas?

Routine is very time consuming. We work on ideas until everyone is sure it is what it needs to be.
