Introducing Nat Col and the Kings

Aussie Nathan Cavaleri has experienced more in his 30 years of life than most of us will in our entire lifetime. Diagnosed with leukemia at the age of six, conquered it, played with Mark Knopfler at age nine, appeared on CNN, Entertainment Tonight and Conan O’Brien by the age of ten and played a festival in Zurich alongside Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, REM and Jimmy Page at age 13 (plus a little show at the White House for then-president Bill Clinton, no biggie) it’s pretty fair to assume Cavaleri is Superman.

“…it’s pretty fair to assume Cavaleri is Superman.”

Probably not old enough to appreciate Jimmy Page asking him for a signed copy of his CD (guh??), Cavaleri has since spawned a band in 2010 worthy of equal greatness; Nat Col and the Kings.

“I was writing songs that were quite different to what I had been and ended up with around 15 or so. Bluesy, firey, powerful and free but not in a traditional sense. I sent Col [that’s Screaming Jets drummer Col Hatchman, if you don’t mind] the songs and we put together a few gigs under the radar. With no band name and no promotion, the shows were absolutely packed, and it all snow balled from there really.”

Live, Nat Col and the Kings have played Byron Bay Blues and Roots, Queenscliff Festival, Apollo Bay and many more. Their second EP Single Things debuted at number one on iTunes and stayed there for a month. They are set to play a range of dates in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria over August and September to launch their latest EP Coming Home. It’s set to be very, very special.
