International Festival Profile – Wireless Festival 2012
If London wasn’t already spoilt enough this year hosting the Olympic Games and musical giants like Mark Ronson teaming up with Coca-Coca to produce some beats to promote it, they’re also home to Barclaycard Wireless Festival.
From the 6-8th July, Hyde Park will cater to almost all music tastes as some of the hottest names take the stage and indulge their fans in what is predicted to be one of the most kick ass events on the musical calendar. Three huge acts have been confirmed to headline the show.
Firing up musical engines the first night is Canadian producer and DJ dance maestro deadmau5. With four Grammy Award nominations, three International Dance Music Awards and three Juno Awards, Vulture is sure the organizers of Wireless know exactly what they’re doing.
Following his recent critically acclaimed album Take Care, Canadian born rapper Drake will take the stage the second night. Known for his energetic performances and creative stage designs he’s come a long way since Degrassi. Don’t be afraid if he shows up in an owl sweater screaming OVOXO. All will be revealed when you see who’s joining him.
Showing no signs of slowing down after six spectacular albums, Barbados native and international superstar Rihanna will close the show on Sunday. If her incredible live reputation is anything to go by, fans can expect nothing short of an explosive and raunchy performance.
While Vulture is currently jizzing uncontrollably at the headline acts, we needed to take a few minutes to compose ourselves (and clean up of course) while we absorb the rest of the lineup. Knife Party, Childish Gambino, The Weeknd, Koan Sound, Flux Pavilion, Santigold and Jessie J are just some of the other acts we’re getting giddy over.
So if you’re looking for an excuse to book a European holiday, why not make your way to Wireless in London? They definitely have a massive cake and they’re going to eat it too!
