All Tomorrow’s Parties “I’ll Be Your Mirror” Lineup Announced

August 10, 2012 by Tony Proudfoot in Festivals, Latest News with 0 Comments
Vulture Magazine is beyond excited to announce the 2013 All Tomorrow’s Parties “I’ll Be Your Mirror” line up, to be curated by The Drones, and held at Westgate Entertainment Centre in Altona on February 16 and 17.
ATP’s stature and legend grows by the year, with events held in New York and Minehead in England each year, as well as the inaugural series of events curated by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, held in 2009 at Mount Buller, Cockatoo Island Sydney, and Riverstage Brisbane to widespread critical acclaim. With the February 2013 event, presented over 2 days in the industrial heartland of Melbourne’s inner-west, The Dronesextend their influence to co-curate and bring together one of the most exciting line-ups we have ever seen on these shores. In what will be aural explosion of catatonia-inducing proportions, this festival will re-introduce to a new generation of Melburnian music fans some of history’s finest exponents of sound manipulation the world has ever seen.

This festival pulls off the coup of all coups by presenting, for the first time in over 20 years in Australasia, My Bloody Valentine. The shoe gaze legends, fronted by the enigmatic Kevin Shields will bring their full volume and power to Melbourne, the first time since the Loveless tour of 1992.

Joining them will be Canadian post-rock legends God Speed You! Black Emperor for their first ever Australasian visit, after reforming for ATP in 2010.

Adding to the orgasm inducing line-up in their original incarnation is the reformed Beasts of Bourbon, featuring Tex Perkins, Kim Salmon, Boris Sudjovic, Spencer P Jones and James Baker.

Rounding out the international component, but by no means mere filler for this incredible bill are Swans (USA), Kraut-rocking noise therapist post-punk outfit Einstuerzende Nuebauten (Germany), New Zealand’s The Dead C, Garage-rock excitement machine Thee Oh Sees (USA) and road-trip-psychedelia merchants Sleepy Sun.

Not forgetting though, that Australia is no slouch at this game either, a plethora of quality Aussie bands are also on the bill in the form of HTRK, Lost Animal, Harmony, and Cam Butler & The Shadows of Love, as well as continent-and-hemispherically leaping electronica act Standish/Carlyon, featuring ex-members of The Devastations.

Needless to say, this is an “Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhh” inducing line-up of monumental proportions.Tickets are on sale this Monday 13th August from www.ATPFestival.com
